Employee Assistance Program (EAP) – THA Group will provide confidential and voluntary assistance to all employees and their family members who may be faced with dynamic challenges of financial concerns, legal issues, alcohol or drug problems, marital problems, illness of a family member, emotional worries, child care problems, etc.

Employee Bereavement – THA Group provides paid time off for eligible employees when death occurs in their immediate family.

Employee Classification – THA Group has developed and maintains a system that identifies the employment status of an individual as it relates to the work force requirements of the organization.

Employee Grievances – THA Group provides a formal problem-solving procedure whereby employees can express complaints about their work or working conditions and obtain a review of their complaint through progressively higher levels of management. Inclement Weather – With Mother Nature continuing to wreak havoc all over the world with blizzards, hurricanes or some other natural disaster, THA Group has put a policy in place to allow some leniency for employees affected by events that are out of their control.

Infection Control Surveillance and Management Program – THA Group collects and analyzes data related to infections to protect staff, patients and the community, to improve patient care practices, and to comply with state and federal regulations.

Identification Badges – THA Group requires each employee to wear approved identification in order to be easily and appropriately identified by patients and their families, physicians and other employers.

ILAH Holiday Pay – The purpose of this policy is to provide guidelines for observances of holidays and eligibility for holiday pay.

Internship & Clinical Student Rotation Policy – The purpose of this policy is to outline responsibilities and to ensure such student workers have a productive stay with the company.

Jury Duty Leave – The primary purpose of this leave is to ensure that employees do not suffer undue hardship by loss of pay because of extended absences while performing jury service or appearing as a subpoenaed witness.

Learning Period – The organization has a learning period of 90 days that applies to all new hires. The learning period may be extended if substantial time is missed during the first 90 days. The discretion to extend this period is approved by the Vice President of Talent Management.

Leave of Absence – THA Group grants leaves of absence, paid or unpaid, when the granting of such leaves is necessary and/or in the best interest of the organization.

Meal and Rest Breaks – This policy is intended to support the state requirements regarding meal and rest/breaks, as well as individual business practices that define breaks.

Overtime – The purpose of this policy is to control labor costs by managing the expense of overtime pay to nonexempt (hourly) employees of THA Group.

Paid Time Off (PTO) – THA Group provides paid time away from work (Paid Time Off or PTO) as part of the total compensation package for full-time and part-time employees.

Paid Time Off – ILAH – THA Group provides paid time away from work (Paid Time Off or PTO) for a limited number of Exclusive Casual employees. Exclusive Casual employees must: a) work only for ILAH, and b) accept all assignments offered.

Paid Time Off Donation – THA Group allows an employee, under certain specific conditions, to voluntarily donate a limited amount of accrued Paid Time Off (PTO) to another THA Group employee with approval from the receiving and donating employee’s management. Paid Time Off (PTO) Donation Form.

Parental Flex Time Policy – The purpose of this parental flex time policy is to enable the employee to care for and make provisions for a newborn or a newly adopted or newly placed child and prepare themselves to effectively transition back to work by allowing up to 4 additional weeks of flex time after exhausting FMLA.

Performance Evaluations – Each employee in the organization receives a formal annual performance evaluation.

Probationary Period – THA Group has a probationary period of 90 days that applies to all new hires.

Recruitment and Selection – The recruitment, selection and pre-employment screening processes outlined in this policy are in place to ensure that all hires for a given position meet consistent qualification and selection criteria necessary for long-term success in the position.

Screening of Hospice Volunteers – Volunteers wishing to serve Island Hospice are carefully screened to ensure that the highest quality care is delivered to Island Hospice patients, their families, and loved ones.

Separation – The purpose of this policy is to outline the expectations and procedures related to employee separation.

Substance Abuse – THA Group is committed to providing a safe work environment and to fostering the well being and health of its employees. That commitment is jeopardized when any employee illegally uses drugs on or off the job, comes to work under their influence; possesses, distributes or sells drugs in the workplace; or abuses alcohol on the job. Temporary Employee – Temporary employees may be hired to fill in during extended absences of regular employees, to cover time between a termination and the filling of a position, to cover peak workloads, to cover for person(s) on a leave of absence, or to assist on projects of short term duration of one-hundred eighty working days or less. When the limit is reached, temporary employees may be hired as a regular employee or separated.

Temporary Staffing – Temporary staff may be hired to fill in during extended absences of regular staff, to cover time between a termination and the filling of a position, to cover peak work loads, to provide a short term buffer for fluctuating work loads, or to assist on projects of short term duration of ninety working days or less.

Timekeeping – All non-exempt employees are required to accurately record their work time in the Timekeeping system on a daily basis.

Volunteer Orientation and Training – All newly approved Island Hospice volunteers are required to participate in a training/orientation program. The program is under the supervision of the Volunteer Coordinator and is held as necessary to meet the volunteer orientation needs of Island Hospice.

Workforce Reduction – A workforce reduction or a reduction in force (RIF) occurs when changing priorities, budgetary constraints or other business conditions require THA Group to abolish positions. A RIF can also occur when a position changes so significantly that the employee is no longer able to perform the required duties.
