If your patient has an exacerbation of a preexisting condition, acute onset of a new diagnosis or new medication, home health services could be covered 100% by Medicare if the patient meets the eligibility requirements.

Home Care Services May Include:
- Observation and assessment
- Management and evaluation
- Assessment of general pulmonary status
- Evaluation of lung sounds, assess amount, site(s) of wheezing, rhonci, or lung sound changes
- Disease education
- Teaching patient or caregiver new medication regimen
- Teaching patient or caregiver to identify and avoid specific factors that precipitate an exacerbation
- Teaching safe oxygen utilization
- Teaching proper use of inhalers
- Teaching conservation of energy
- Assessment of nutritional status, hydration status, s/s CHF, vital signs
- Obtaining sputum culture, as ordered
- Venipuncture, as ordered
- Monitoring respiratory rate and pattern
- Evaluation for presence or absence of cough, frequency, character, and sputum production
- Breathing exercises
- Notification to MD of significant changes
